Direct Experience of Truth: Beyond Belief

Throughout history, humanity has wavered between belief and denial of God. There are those who firmly believe, those who categorically reject, and others who remain uncertain, acting “just in case.”

However, as Samael Aun Weor teaches, none of these postures signify having experienced the Truth.

Belief is not experience. Atheism is not either. Skepticism, in turn, merely traps the mind in doubt, preventing the direct experience of Reality. Truth, that which some call God, Allah, Tao, Zen, or Brahma, is beyond any system of belief or denial. As long as we are stuck in dogmas, whether religious or materialistic, we will remain distant from the mystical experience that leads us to true knowledge.

The mind, in order to access what is essential, must free itself from conditioning. Like the silence when Pilate asked Jesus, "What is Truth?" or Buddha turning away when questioned about the same subject, Truth cannot be expressed in words without being distorted. It is like the beauty of a sunset: indescribable to one who has never seen it.

The Path of Direct Experience

To access Truth, it is not enough to discuss or try to understand it intellectually. Truth is not an idea, not a concept, not a goal to be reached in the future. It reveals itself at every moment, in the core of every experience, in the depth of each daily life challenge.

The key to this experience lies not in adopting comforting beliefs or denying what we don’t understand, but in cultivating inner stillness. The restless and fragmented mind will never perceive Reality. Thought, in itself, cannot grasp the Divine, because Truth only arises in the absence of the ego, when internal conflicts cease.

True concentration is not an effort to choose between good and bad thoughts, but a state of full attention, where everything is observed without resistance or attachment. When the mind quiets and remains in deep silence, the possibility of the direct experience arises.

Beyond Ideas: Truth as Transformation

Truth cannot be possessed. Those who think they have found it within a theory or dogma have already strayed from it. Those who have truly experienced it know that it is dynamic, expansive, and always revealing.

However, many people, without ever having lived the Truth, believe they possess it and try to teach it to others. They forget that Truth cannot be transmitted as intellectual knowledge; it can only be lived.

The one who has had the direct experience of the Ineffable undergoes a radical transformation. Perception changes, values realign, and the outward search gives way to inner realization. What was once a belief or doubt dissolves into the silent certainty of one who has seen, even if just for a moment, the vastness of what is beyond words.

Truth is not in time, nor in eternity. It is the unknown that reveals itself in the present moment, in the fertile emptiness of the silent mind. And as Samael Aun Weor teaches, it comes to us like a thief in the night: unexpected, sudden, and irreversible.
