Where did we come from, and where do we go after death? These questions reflect our constant restlessness in the face of the mysteries that surround us.
However, it is essential to be aware that not all the information we receive is genuine. Unfortunately, some manipulate perceptions and distort facts to serve their own interests. That is why we, at Ancient Wisdom Team, emphasize the importance of critical thinking and intuition. Rationality and consciousness are essential tools that guide us on this journey called life.
Our Purpose
Our team is made up of people with spiritual concerns, always seeking answers to the enigmas of existence. We share, with those interested in the subject, knowledge acquired over time through texts, videos, and reflections. Our goal is to encourage each reader to build their own understanding of reality.
We do not seek to indoctrinate or impose absolute truths. On the contrary, we want to spark curiosity and encourage the pursuit of self-knowledge. All the content we publish should be read critically, questioned, and analyzed in the light of reason and intuition. As Krishnamurti said: "Following an authority is the denial of intelligence."
The Importance of Identifying Fallacies
The manipulation of information can occur subtly and persuasively. Many times, fallacious arguments seem convincing but are logically inconsistent. Fallacies are deceptive reasoning that, although appearing valid, are constructed to mislead. Recognizing these pitfalls is essential to developing critical thinking and avoiding being influenced by manipulative discourse.
The Dangers of Sects and Psychological Manipulation
Robert Jay Lifton, a psychiatrist and scholar of the psychological effects of indoctrination, identified eight fundamental aspects to recognize sects and manipulative groups. Understanding these mechanisms helps avoid the influence of ideologies that limit freedom of thought and individual autonomy.
- Control of the Environment: Sects isolate their members, preventing access to external information and criticism of the group.
- Mystical Manipulation: They create supernatural narratives to validate their authority.
- Demand for Purity: They divide the world into "good" and "evil," using guilt and shame as forms of control.
- Cult of Confession: They encourage self-exposure of personal flaws to reinforce submission to the group.
- Sacred Knowledge: The sect’s ideology is treated as absolute and unquestionable truth.
- Elaborate Language: They create clichés and jargon to limit members' critical capacity.
- Doctrine Over Individuals: The individual only has value if aligned with the group’s rules.
- Dispensed from Existence: They determine who deserves to belong to the group and even justify extreme actions.
If you notice that you are being influenced by any of these practices, reflect on when you stopped trusting your own intuition and critical thinking.
We believe that knowledge is the key to freedom. Therefore, keep questioning, seeking, and reflecting. The truth lies within each of us, waiting to be discovered.
