Who remembers the leaked UFO videos published by The New York Times and later confirmed as authentic by the Pentagon between 2020 and 2021? We revisit these events and the records released at the time.

The Official Recognition of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena

In recent years, the Pentagon has acknowledged the existence of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs). In 2017, the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) was established to investigate military encounters with unknown flying objects. By June 2021, the U.S. Department of Defense released an unclassified report on UFO sightings by military pilots, admitting that some of these observations could not be explained.

These reports and official recognition have sparked great public interest and speculation about the possibility of extraterrestrial life and advanced technology in our airspace. The disclosures include official U.S. government communications about sightings by military pilots and defense personnel, along with videos and images showing encounters between military aircraft and unknown objects.

The Most Well-Known Videos

Among the most famous records are:

  • FLIR1 (2004): An encounter between a U.S. Navy aircraft and an unknown object.
  • Gimbal (2015): Another sighting recorded by Navy pilots.
  • Go Fast: A third video showing a high-speed object.

These videos were released in 2017 by The New York Times and the To the Stars Academy of Arts and Science, an organization founded by Tom DeLonge, former lead singer of Blink-182, dedicated to researching unidentified aerospace phenomena.

Official Disclosure and the Pentagon Report

In December 2017, The New York Times revealed the existence of AATIP, funded by the Pentagon to study unidentified aerospace phenomena. The program had been running since 2007 with a secret budget of $22 million. The article also highlighted the role of Luis Elizondo, a former Department of Defense official who led the program and resigned in 2017 in protest against excessive secrecy.

Another key figure was Senator Harry Reid, who pushed for the program’s funding and allocated resources from the Department of Defense budget.

In April 2020, the U.S. Department of Defense officially published the FLIR1, Gimbal, and Go Fast videos. The following year, in June 2021, a nine-page report detailed 144 encounters between 2004 and 2021, including visual observations, radar recordings, and sensor data.

The report described flying objects with unusual flight capabilities, such as abrupt movements and extreme speeds, without visible propulsion systems. While it did not confirm an extraterrestrial origin, it also did not rule out the possibility. The document suggested that the objects could be natural phenomena, advanced foreign technology, or sensor system malfunctions.

The Most Recent Case: Congressional Testimonies

Graves, Grusch and Fravor in congress

In 2023, David Grusch and other officials testified before the U.S. Congress about the UFO phenomenon, signaling a growing openness to public debate on the subject.

With each new revelation, curiosity about the UFO phenomenon continues to grow. What more will be revealed in the coming years? Stay tuned for more updates on this intriguing mystery!
